Welcome to the August newsletter.
I hope everyone is doing well and enjoying the summer and taking some time for vacation and relaxing with friends and family.
We had a Fellow Craft Degree in July and it was fairly well at tended although several of the officers were not able to attend. We filled the chairs and made out as best we could. Our District Deputy Grand Master came out to spend the evening with us and we had a pretty good degree in spite of not having any degree work for quite some time.
Brother Jose did a fantastic job on his EA proficiency. I can’t remember the last time I heard such an outstanding proficiency. I would like to thank Blake McSwain, Lyth Clark, Jeff Triplett and Dave Stuard for all of their efforts in coaching our new Brother. He is pretty excited to move forward to the third step in Masonry and his coach assures me that he will do equally well on his remaining degree work.
If all goes according to plan, Brother Jose will take his Master Mason degree in August. I hope you all make plans to attend and support your Lodge and our newest Brother.
We had several visitors at the degree which was quite nice.
We had a Brother come down from Amity Lodge in Newberry to see the degree.
The brothers in Newberry have put up a Lodge room in the Newberry Museum and actually did a Third degree on one candidate in July. They have pulled together lodge furniture and Masonic paraphernalia from all across the state to build this working exhibit. There are currently a couple of other Lodges that are planning on conferring degrees at the museum. Our Grand Lodge has approved of these events and are issuing dispensations for the Lodges to move their charters in order to do this degree work. If you are up in the Newberry area, stop by and check it out. The exhibit is open to the public during regular business hours. It is a pretty impressive display.
RWB Kyle Smathers will be hosting the 10th District Inspirational meeting this month. It will be held on August 18th at the Scottish Rite building located at 7230 Garners Ferry Rd. The meeting will start promptly at 7
pm. There will be a meal as well as musical entertainment. The guest speaker will be Richland County Sheriff Brother Leon Lott. These meetings take a bit of planning and coordination by our DDGM and I hope we can all show him our support and respect by having a good turnout.
The Lodges pay for this event and it is an opportunity to bring family, friends and anyone else that may have an interest in our Fraternity. It will be a good night of food and fellowship and I would like to see a good turnout of Acacia Brothers.
Have a great month ahead Brothers!
I look forward to seeing you all in Lodge. Remember, this is your Lodge and it takes all of us to make it successful. Attendance has not been the greatest and only each one of
us can turn that around. Mark your calendars and please make every effort to attend these functions. We need your participation!
See you around the altar!
Fraternally,
Jeff Hall
