July 2023
Greetings for July Brothers! Half of 2023 is already behind us and it has been a pretty busy first half. We had a pretty good turnout for our fish fry and the weather was perfect!
We had a bit of an issue on the Friday before the fish fry that could have gone much worse. The plumbers were out clearing the drain line from the building roof drains to the street. Apparently someone laid a new line across our drain and clogged our drain. As the boring tool was going through our drain, it ruptured a gas line. All work immediately stopped and the police/fire department closed off Hampton St. SCE&G came out and capped the gas line until the following Monday as the temporary repair was completed late afternoon on Friday. We dodged a bullet there but the good news is, we hope the repairs will eliminate the water problem we have had in the dining room. More to come on this issue.
It was great to see some old faces at the fundraiser as well as some of the usual old mugs! Brother Ryan Woodall drove down from Charlotte just to come and spend a couple hours catching up. When he left, he dropped by the Eastern Star ladies’ bake goods table and couldn’t decide which sweet he wanted, so he bought the entire table! He had plenty of treats for the ride back to Charlotte. For those that may not remember Ryan, we performed his Dad’s Masonic Rites last month.
He was a member at Acacia before moving to Charlotte. We appreciate your support Brother Ryan. Great seeing you again.
Speaking with WB Dave Stuard, he assures me that our EA Brother is
acing his proficiency and will be ready for his FC Degree in July. As it
looks right now, he will probably stand his proficiency at our July busi-
ness meeting. I am looking forward to getting back to doing some de-
gree work. I hope to have good attendance and a good degree. Come out and help us bring this newly made Brother along!
Brethren, I wish you all a safe and happy 4th of July holiday! I plan on smoking a few slabs of ribs and celebrating with the old fashioned BBQ feast.
Remember our Military men and women this holiday and all those who serve, have served and especially those that didn’t come back. We owe this day and every day to them and their service and sacrifices.
See you around the altar!
Fraternally,
Jeff Hall
